Harp Gear harmonica amplifiers for harp amp players.

*** 11/28/07 ***

I am off to NYC tomorrow AM and I will be gone until 12/03/07.  I will be up there playing some music.  If there are any good blues jams in the NYC area please feel free to call me.  I won't have any amps but I'll have some harps and I'll be looking to play.  If you have any questions I may have limited access to the web so please call me with any questions.  I am always available for calls 7 days a week.   If you do email me please understand I may not be able to answer quickly.  I will do my best though.   Thanks as always!

Just in from Jim McBride of Bottle O Blues:

Annie Raines will be in Atlanta on December 6th and 7th. She'll be performing with Paul Rishell at Blind Willies on Thursday Dec 6th, and will be giving a harmonica seminar on Friday Dec 7th.

Annie was in Atlanta a while back and quite a few of us were lucky enough to see her perform and attend her harmonica seminar. It was fantastic - one of the best we've had! Check out the link below to the AHE website and an interview with Annie by our own   Matthew Shelton.

Sorry I haven't updated for a while. We just bought a house so I have been busy moving into Ocala, FL.  I lived about 30 minutes from Ocala before and now that I am in town everything is more convenient.  .  I still have an Original HarpGear Standard 5F1 amplifier for sale.  This is the model that started HarpGear.  It is in excellent condition and was the one used for most of the sound samples on the HG Standard page.  I am asking $550 plus shipping.  I no longer offer these as a standard model and this is the last one I've held onto.  The tone is awesome and the amp is well broke in.   The  chrome chassis is in excellent like new condition with no visible scratches.  The cabinet is finger joint pine and the tweed is lacquered as in the picture.  If you have any questions on anything  please feel free to email me.

The Bassman I was selling has found a new home in Lexington KY.  I am in the middle of buying a house closer to town (Ocala, FL) so I may be listing a few more of my personal amps soon to make moving a little easier.  I got some news from Lone Wolf today he wanted me to pass along.

"Lone Wolf will soon be rolling out a new site and a new name that will better reflect the direction that we are going. Our new name will be LONE WOLF BLUES COMPANY and the site will be lonewolfblues.com. I will be moving away from amps and be actively pursuing the effect pedals business coming out with new models this coming year. I will also be offering vintage amp repair and harp mods for amps. The new web site will reflect this and I will continue to add to the amp projects including having a single ended 6L6 project where I go through the complete building of the amp including schematics, parts lists and costs."

If you have any questions on anything  please feel free to email me.

I've had a few people asking me about used amps and I have one I am going to offer.  It's my personal Fender Bassman reissue.  The tweed on it is in near perfect condition and I have lacquered it.  There is a tiny tear on the very bottom back of the amp that is about as big as a pencil eraser from where a high hat stand caught it.  I put the original blue frame eminence speakers from the early 90's in it to replace the reissue Jensen speakers.  The eminence blue frame speakers have a much nicer rounder tone to them while providing great punch.  It is also retubed and set for harp.  This is bar none one of the best sounding Bassmans I have heard.  All the harp players I have had play though it were impressed and it has been played by some great players.  It is fully setup for harp and in excellent condition.  I am asking $800 plus shipping to your area.  This will get you heard in almost any venue and with great tone.  If you have any questions on anything  please feel free to email me.

The Dennis Gruenling harp seminar went great.   The turnout for the class was good an the information even better.  Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones were smokin'!  They featured Dennis and I can't say enough about how good the show was.  If you get the chance to see Doug Deming anywhere I really recommend it.  Dennis tried the Lone Wolf Harp Delay through an HG2 while he was there.  I recorded it for those of you who were asking for a sample of the delay with the HG2.

Amp settings: Volume: 5 Tone: 4.5 Delay settings: Delay:
2 o'clock postion Repeats: 8:30 position Blend 10 o'clock position.  The sound sample was outside in the open at the class on the patio so there is no room effects. The amp was only turned up to 5 so it gives you an idea of how the HG2 sounds at lower levels.

The show was scheduled from 8pm-11pm and it kept going until about 12:30am.  The girls were dancin' and the crowd was rockin'.   I really want to thank the band and Dennis for such a great show and thanks for asking me sit in.
